Description
A play by Harold Pinter based on the clinical cases of the neurologist Oliver Sacks directed by Ivan Benet with dance by Andrés Corchero. The story of a woman who comes to after being asleep for 29 years.
Once I read this text by Harold Pinter, the urge and the need to join dance and theatre took shape as I plunged into the world that the author creates. Pinter wrote an enigmatic yet emotional piece about the fascinating, unexpected awakening of a woman who suffered from lethargic encephalitis. The play takes place amidst that recognisable state in which reality and dream coexist in parallel and life and death are virtuously intertwined, so much that one doubts whether what one dreamed was actually experienced and whether what one experienced was actually a dream. It’s an incredible, poetic text whose political underpinning can be subtly glimpsed like the bottom of a still lake, inviting us to reflect on a slumbering society and the imminent awakening from this lethargic period. How long will we sleep?
