Description
A girl finds García Lorca’s work on her parents' bookshelf and at the beginning of the reading she sees Poncia, one of the characters in the piece. Both will initiate a dialogue as they attend the inevitable development of history.
Poncia is the housekeeper in the house where Bernarda Alba exerts total control over her 5 daughters – Angustias, Magdalena, Amelia, Martirio and Adela, to fulfil the period of mourning after the death of her husband. How does she see this social obligation? What does she think of the desire for freedom?
Recommended for audiences aged 9 and over, this version of the last play written by García Lorca can be seen at the Lliure online: it is a dialogued and illustrated monologue that was created during last year’s lockdown by the playwright Victoria Szpunberg and the illustrator Ana Yael.
