La caixa del Lliure

La caixa del Lliure continues to grow! In addition to The stage for children from 3 to 8 years old, the 22/23 season sees the beginning of a new project for older primary school children (from 8 to 12 years old) at the Marta Mata school in Barcelona, with the support of the Les Pinyes theatre company in the Pla de barris de l’Ajuntament de Barcelona. This new stage unfolds in multiple settings designed by the children themselves, with endless possibilities for visual, sound, symbolic, emotional and theatrical play... to understand how the theatre works from the inside.

In both projects, the Lliure provides schools with the stage, an instructions manual and specific training for the students to make them into boxes full of knowledge, intuition, expression and experimentation with the stories they like.

We have proposed two visual theatre and object artists to perform two shows designed for the two Caixes del Lliure, one for each, and turn them into a stage box in full operation.

With La caixa del Lliure as a child we propose Un tros de pa, from the company Les Pinyes, for the little ones (from 3 to 5 years old). From 07 to 11/11.

And with the new, La caixa del Lliure for primary, The Watching Machine / La caixa màgica, by Macarena Recuerda Shepherd, for the elderly (10 to 14 years). From 14 to 18/11.

On November 21 and 22, school groups that have been to see a La Caixa show will be able to participate in this workshop, where they will discover how it works and play and experiment with their own proposals guided by the show's artists.

The fourth edition of this educational and artistic project by the Barcelona Institut de Cultura and the Teatre Lliure, which is based on the co-creation of a show by various schools in Barcelona. With the leadership of a professional theatre director, and in order to give adolescents the opportunity to have an experience of collective creation in a professional environment, teachers are given tools to use language and theatrical techniques in the classroom, and to make theatre art more accessible to young people and benefit their social and educational environment.

The secondary schools selected in the Consorci d’Educació Unified Call for Programmes and Training will be announced in June 2022. The teacher training component, which enables the pedagogical and educational resources that the theatre offers to be worked on and adopted step by step by the schools as a cross-disciplinary and innovative educational tool, will begin in November. The resulting production will be performed at the Teatre Lliure in May 2023.
