A square, or plaça in Catalan, is a place of gathering and welcome that encourages you to sit down, talk and let ideas flow in a relaxed environment. We have invited different artists from this season to choose their preferred plaça to carve out a place and time for a conversation about their work, their career and their views on creation and the performing arts.
La plaça is an audiovisual space of in-depth interviews with creators present in the programming that will premiere the current season at CaixaForum+.
Just like the colloquia, the conversations are led by Anna Guitart, Andrea Gumes and Queco Novell.

La brama del cérvol with Queco Novell
La Calòrica is celebrating its anniversary, has just shot its first television series and once again brings together all its members in this choral and dizzying proposal, set in an old mountain hotel in the middle of nowhere. Multiple stories and crossed characters, paralyzed by the feeling of emptiness, or who need to escape from the noise, or excited to live a unique experience that solves everyday problems. All are alone in the world, or so they believe, and they pass the days without even having heard the roar of the deer. They have talked to Queco Novell about this unbridled void and theater.

Cor dels amants with Anna Guitart
This was the first text that the Portuguese director Tiago Rodrigues -and current director of the Avignon Festival- wrote for the theatre, in 2007. He wanted to tell a love story through the passage of time, how a couple overcome an experience close to death. He based it on an autobiographical fact to which he added fictional elements. Some years later, updated and expanded, this text is a piece about time. A story in which, at the beginning, time is very urgent, it escapes, all the seconds are precious. Later, it is like a bird that flies over a life and looks at it from afar to tell it.

Fantàstic Ramon with Andrea Gumes
Director Clàudia Cedó, the mastermind behind Escenaris Especials, and the actor Marc Buxaderas talk about the show Fantàstic Ramon, a comedy with fantastic touches on rejection, otherness and the possibility of loving someone who is made differently. A trip to an small town so closed that the most intimate monsters emerge in it, crossed by love, tenderness, black humor and evil. And a question: do we know how to manage the arrival of the other, of the different, from which we leave what we call normality?

14.4 with Queco Novell
Sergio Peris-Mencheta and Juan Diego Botto teamed up in 2013 with Un trozo invisible de este mundo, a show that explored exile and immigration through various stories. More than 10 years later, in a very complex artistic and personal process, they return with 14.4, a piece that originated in 2009 from the discovery of a future actor, Ahmed Younoussi. Peris-Mencheta met him while filming a short film in which a young Moroccan man travels hidden under a truck and is mistreated by the port authorities of Algeciras.

El público with Anna Guitart
After facing Viaje a la Luna in 2021, the Galician director Marta Pazos presents one of the three plays of "impossible theater" by Federico García Lorca with the Comedia Nacional de Montevideo, the home in exile of the author’s actress and ambassador Margarida Xirgu. García Lorca wrote this plays thinking that only the future's audience could understand them. With El público, he proposed a poetic and experiential experience avant la lettre. According to Pazos, "García Lorca speaks to the unconscious. If you cross this play with your body, its clarity is meridian. García Lorca was a magician".

Caramel with Andrea Gumes
The show is born from the desire to try to understand the different ways of relation with substance consumption and its effects. After two years of research, it becomes evident that it is impossible to account for the many questions arising from the complex world of consumption in a single work. On one end, the moralistic and stigmatizing view marked by the arbitrariness of what is legal and what is not. On the other, the romantization of consumption as a reaction to hegemonic judgment. But how can the same thing be liberation and imprisonment?
